The theme the importance of playfulness as a tool in the teaching and learning process is a recurring subject in debate in education, its discussion is how to learn and play as a teaching process in the classroom. The present study aims to analyze the use of games and play as mediating strategies in the formation of children in their teaching and learning process. The research had as bibliographic base authors who stand out in the investigated theme, such as: Piaget, (1971), Kishimoto (2011), Freire (1996), Vigotski (1984) Queiroz and Martins (2002), among others, who went to substantiate the theme. The study used a qualitative approach, combining the research paradigm with an interview. The instruments were applied to teachers from the Municipal Network of Escola Fernão Dias Paes - Lambari D ’Oeste - MT.
