The state of Para is among the largest producers, where consumption has gradually increased. One of the main problems faced in the productive chain of this specie is the elevated cost of ration, which represents more than half of the total production cost. The rations prepared from alternative foods have been utilized with more frequently in tambaqui feed. The objective of work present was to evaluate the performance of Colossoma macropomum specimens fed with increasing levels of gross glycerin (0%, 4%, 8%, 12%, 16% and commercial ration) in replacement to corn (Zea mays L.). All diets were formulated to contain 28% gross protein. The fingerlings with average initial weight of 19,50±0,45g were divided into 18 experimental units (hapas) 1m3 , each containing 15 fish per group totaling 270 individuals. The animals were fed twice daily at a rate of 10% of the total biomass during the period 60 days. Biometry was done at intervals of 15 days and the evaluation of the physico-chemical quality of the water at intervals of 05 days. At the end of the experiment were evaluated zootechnical performance parameters.
