In this work, we made the effort, through a historiographic exercise, to think some "uses of the people" or some meanings attributed to the manifestations of "popular culture" in the suburbs of the city of Rio de Janeiro. In order to do so, the basis of our argument was established in an attempt to understand the networks of sociability formed around the festive activities in Bangu between the years of 1895 to 1929, trying to understand how leisure settled for these social subjects and to what extent It was an element of constitution of broader social identities in the region, be they of class, of belonging or ethnicity. We believe that a look at its specificities, approached from the reality in which it is put, allowed to understand it as a social practice, a human and historical activity that was defined in the set of social relations, in the clash of the social groups or classes being , Itself, a specific form of social relation, a space of human qualification, that is, of the development of physical, mental, affective, aesthetic and playful conditions.application/pdfopenAccessBanguVida divertidaSubúrbiosRio de JaneiroFábricaInterdisciplinarA vida divertida suburbana: representações, identidades e tensões em um arrabalde chamado Bangu (1895-1929)Tese
