Kaltner, Leonardo FerreiraTannus, Carlos Antônio Kalil2025-05-122007https://deposita.ibict.br/handle/deposita/762This work consists on the analysis of the epic poem De Gestis Mendi de Saa, Brazilian text composed in the Sixteenth century in Latin, whose author, by the lessons of Pe. Armando Cardoso, S. J., is José de Anchieta. The established text of Cardoso, who used the Editio of 1563 from Coimbra and the manuscript of Algorta, served my purpose, as long as the fac-simile of the first edition of the poem, the Editio of 1563 from Coimbra, published recently, in Brazil, by the Fundação Biblioteca Nacional. In my analysis I have articulated the epic of Virgil in relation to the Hesperic myth and the reinsertion of this mythic cycle in the De Gestis, showing as the myth of Hesperia, according to the foundation of Rome, which Virgil described in the Aeneis, is recaptured, in the style of Renaissance Humanism, as an epic scenarium of Sixteenth century Brazil. Then, I have translated the saga of Fernão de Sá, son of Mem de Sá, from the first book, which is a beautiful example of the classic tópos of the pulchra mors.application/pdfopenAccessClassicsLatin LanguageNeo-Latin LiteratureAnchietaClassical PhilologyLetrasLinguísticaLínguas ClássicasO Brasil hespérico e a bela morte de Fernão de Sá no De Gestis Mendi de Saa de José de Anchieta S.
