In this panorama, it is relevant to discuss the scenario of new agricultural frontiers that are expanding in Brazil. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the agricultural performance of agribusiness in the Matopiba region (Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia), in relation to Brazil, through the evolution of soybean production, in the period from 2010 to 2021. Themethodology used consists of the analysis description of soybean production indicators; in the analysis of clusters of municipalities in the analyzed region, based on the productive performance of the crop in 2021 and; the calculation of the Geometric Growth Rate (GGR), in which the time series of the groups were verified. The analyzes weighed the indicators of planted area, production and average yield of soybean production. The data were obtained from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (BIGS), through Municipal Agricultural Production (MAP). The results indicate that the Matopiba region showed significant advances in the analyzed indicators, showing clear agricultural development in agribusiness, through soybean production in the region. Additionally, this study provides subsidies to indicate directions of agricultural development in the analyzed region to professional decision-makers who work in the sector, including the primary role of contributing to sustainable, more balanced and inclusive development, indicating perspectives for future work.application/pdfopenAccessDesempenho agrícolaMatopibaAgronegócioDesenvolvimento ruralProdução de sojaCiências AgráriasEvolução dos indicadores da produção de soja no MatopibaArtigo
